Compression neuropathy of the common peroneal nerve caused by an intraosseous ganglion cyst of fibula
We present a case of a compression neuropathy of the common peroneal nerve caused by an intraosseous Ganglion cyst of fibula.
متن کاملCompression of common peroneal nerve caused by an extraneural ganglion cyst mimicking intermittent claudication
Peripheral neuropathies caused by ganglion cysts are rare. They seldom cause serious complications especially in the lower extremities. The case was a 51-year-old woman referred by her physician to the vascular surgeon with diagnosis including intermittent (vascular) claudication and deep venous thrombosis. Primarily vascular surgeon performed a doppler ultrasound of the lower extremity and cal...
متن کاملCompression neuropathy of the peroneal nerve secondary to a ganglion cyst.
Peripheral neuropathies caused by ganglion cysts are rare, particularly in the lower extremities. The case of a 45-year-old man with a two-month history of foot drop and swelling in the region of the right fibular head is presented. Physical examination and electromyogram studies verified a peroneal nerve palsy. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a lobulated, multilocular, cystic-appearing mas...
متن کاملDeep Peroneal Nerve Palsy Caused by an Extraneural Ganglion Cyst: A Rare Case
Lower extremities peripheral neuropathies caused by ganglion cysts are rare. The most frequent location of occurrence is the common peroneal nerve and its branches, at the level of the fibular neck. We report the case of a 57-year-old patient admitted with foot drop, due to an extraneural ganglion of the upper tibiofibular syndesmosis, compressing the deep branch of the peroneal nerve. Although...
متن کاملCompression of the common peroneal nerve by intramuscular ganglion from the superior tibio-fibular joint.
Eight patients had symptoms from ganglia arising from the superior tibio-fibular joint with physical signs that resembled the anterior tibial and peroneal compartment syndromes. Five ganglia were in the peroneus longus muscle in which they produced only an ill-defined firmness. Histologically the ganglia showed much cellular activity which must not be mistaken for malignant change.
